When one thinks of space, various images play in the mind. Most of them from places visited, stayed in or dreamt of. Oftentimes from our childhood when one was more curious, more attentive and more interested in the immediate surroundings. These images maybe of an array of monumental arches, stairways ascending into muted light or a colonnaded verandah.
Though it is difficult to trace the origin of these memories, they can be witnessed in flashes, while one sinks into nostalgia of old, half-forgotten events. Architectural elements from these memories can be used as a medium to freeze them in time.
Re-play is a collection of such architectural elements, that can be organised as a collage to generate an overarching narrative of memories. Each element can be completed only in the presence of another and then another. Each piece essentially has a back, a front, a left and a right.
These blocks when consciously put together create various mood absorbing spatial situations through texture, light and shadows of the poetic forms. The process of assembly is intuitive and revolves around the individual composer and his current state of mind. Thus, having no single expected outcome single expected outcome. The process is essentially a play of emotions.
Re-play these oneiric moments by peeping into the miniature world that holds surprises at every bend and turn into memory lane.
